A special course taking place in Geneva from 2 to 7 February is set to provide training to the leaders of 19 African national dental association (NDA. The objective is to empower the NDAs by enhancing the management and leadership skills of the NDA leaders.
Countries represented include: Botswana, Egypt, Ghana, Mauritius, Nigeria, Rwanda, Tanzania, Zimbabwe, Uganda, Benin, Burkina Faso, Congo, Côte d’Ivoire, Gabon, Mali, Niger, Senegal, Togo, and Tunisia.
The Summit is being organized within the context of FDI’s Strategy for Africa, developed during the course of the FDI African Summit in Cape Town in October 2012. In the Cape Town Declaration, FDI and African NDAs committed to:
Improving efficiency in order to reinforce credibility as national strategic advisor in the field of public oral health policy making;
Enhancing leadership and management skills;
Reinforcing inter-NDA communication and information exchange
In June 2013, ‘The FDI African Strategy for Oral Health: addressing the specific needs of the continent (pages 113–120)’ was published in the International Dental Journal.
The Geneva course reaffirms the commitment of FDI Leadership to the Strategy for Africa’s implementation and development.
